Things people
actually ask.

Including the one about the name, which we get almost every day.

Is this a lubricant?

No. The name is older than the product line and it causes this question a lot. Glo Girl is a plant-oil balm for lips and dry skin. It is not a personal lubricant and should not be used as one — plant oils break down latex, so it is not safe to use with condoms.

What is the difference between the three tins?

The balm is identical in all three. Champagne is the formula on its own, with no flavour and no shimmer. Pink adds an edible strawberry flavour and a touch of white shimmer. Gold adds an edible pineapple flavour and a lighter gold shimmer. We make the pink and the gold for lips.

Is it the same thing as InkLube?

Yes. Same formula, same small lab in Ogden, Utah, different tin. InkLube is sold for freshly tattooed skin; enough people told us they were using it as a lip and hand balm that we gave it a tin of its own.

Is it vegan?

No. It contains beeswax, which is an animal product. We would rather say so than quietly call it plant-based. We tested candelilla and carnauba as substitutes and did not like how they set.

Is it fragrance-free?

Not in the strict sense. There is no synthetic fragrance added, but the formula contains lavender and tea tree essential oils, and those have a scent. If you are sensitive to botanicals, patch test first.

How do I patch test?

Put a small amount on the inside of your forearm and leave it for 24 hours. If nothing happens, you are fine to use it normally. If you get redness or itching, stop — and if it does not settle, speak to a pharmacist or your doctor.

Can I use it on my face?

People do, mostly on lips and dry patches. It is a rich balm, so if you are prone to congestion you may not want it all over your face. Start small.

Why is it solid when I open it?

It is an anhydrous balm — butters, waxes and oils, no water — so it firms up when it is cold. Press a fingertip into it for a second or two and it softens on contact with your skin.

How long does a tin last?

Use it within 24 months of opening. There is no water in the formula, which is why it keeps that long without a preservative system beyond the natural antioxidants in the oils.

Does it melt?

In a hot car, yes. If it melts and re-sets it is still fine to use; the surface will just be less smooth. Keep it out of direct sun.

What does shipping cost?

Free on US orders over $100. Under that it is $4.95, same carrier and same speed. Most orders arrive in three to five business days.

Can I return it?

Unopened tins, full refund within 30 days. Opened and you did not get on with it, we will give you store credit and you can keep the tin — just tell us what did not work.
